PEST CONTROL/MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

We have a unique position available.  We need someone that would love to be a full-time technician but also has experience with small engine repair for those time we need maintenance on our spray rigs or riding spreaders, etc.

HOW THIS COMBO JOB PAYS

​

Pest Tech: Full Time, Training salary for 30days of $3,000. Afterwards pay is based on percentage of production. Average can be upwards of $3,000 - $3,500/month

​

Maintenance Tech: As needed, $20.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

​

Pest Tech (Maintenance Tech below):

  • Will be on call (emergencies only) one Saturday a month

  • Primary focus will be on pest control and will do maintenance jobs as needed

  • You will be required to work in the heat, go into tight spaces like crawl spaces and attics

  • Conducting thorough interior and exterior inspections to locate pest problems

  • Offering sound advice for both chemical and natural pest control remediation options

  • Providing estimates for one-time treatments and continual maintenance

  • Setting traps for rodents

  • Spraying perimeters of homes and structures for termites, ants and other insects

  • Safe and efficient removal of wasp, hornet and bees nests

  • Laying down rodent boxes to eliminate rats and mice

  • Covering holes with foam and mesh to hinder rodent entry

  • To get licensed, you will be required to complete a minimum of 40hrs on the job training for each category, take an 8hr tech training class, watch 22hrs of video classroom training, take the TDA exam and pass with a 70 or above (paid by ACI)

  • To retain your license you will be required to have 8hrs of CEU's annually

 

Maintenance Tech:

  • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs on equipment (ie electric hose reels, etc)

  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries

  • Replacing diaphragms and hoses on spray pumps

  • minor tune ups on small motors (ie spray pumps, spreaders, etc)

  • Ability to work with metal flashing in order to seal small openings where rodents can gain access to the home

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS​

​

  • Must be a good test taker and use good grammar

  • Must be capable of utilizing technology like an iPad

  • Must have clean record (driving and criminal)

  • Background checks (driving and criminal)

  • Drug test required at start of hire

  • May be required to do random drug testing

  • Must have a clear understanding of the safety protocols for pest control, including wearing properly-fitted respirators when working with chemicals and donning protective clothing and gloves

  • Physical stamina to endure heavy lifting of equipment and excessive bending and kneeling to locate pests in hard-to-reach areas (ie crawl spaces and attics) 50 lbs.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills when speaking with customers and advising on treatment methods

  • Exhibition of strong attention to detail when performing pest detection and treatment procedures

  • Willingness to learn new extermination techniques and procedures based on industry trends

  • Must have experience with small engine repair (gas and electric)

  • Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building

  • Interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers or customers in a pleasant manner

  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked

  • Must work well outdoors in the heat, on roofs and crawl spaces

  • Physical stamina

 

WORK EXPERIENCE AND  EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

​

  • Previous pest control licensing a plus but not required

  • Maintenance knowledge: 1 year (preferred)

  • Small engine repair: 1 year (preferred)

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

 

SCHEDULE

 

  • 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday, typically during business hours

  • Day will start in Kingsland, TX, will drive to other towns for pest control in company vehicle

 

BENEFITS

​

After 90 days ACI will pay 100% of your dental insurance and 75% of your medical insurance premiums. Employee only, family/dependents available. Vision insurance available but cost is covered by employee. ACI offers six paid holidays.

​

After one year of employment, you will receive five days vacation pay, two days sick pay. Each additional year, you receive an additional half day per year, maxing out at 10 days.  Potential bonuses 2x a year.

​

The more categories you are willing to study and test for, the more money you can make.  Once you become a Certified Applicator in at least two categories, you can get a take home vehicle (as long as you have a garage to keep it protected).
